BIP-39 + passphrase support and Shamir in some models.
1 — Unbox & inspect

Ensure packaging is sealed and tamper-free. Do not use if you see signs of tampering.

2 — Generate seed

Follow on-device instructions to create a new recovery phrase; write it down physically — do not store digitally.

3 — Secure the seed

Store your recovery phrase in multiple secure locations; consider metal backups for durability.

4 — Set PIN & passphrase

Protect local access with a PIN and add a passphrase for hidden wallets if desired.

Usage tips

Always verify transaction details on the device screen. Use official downloads and verify signatures when updating firmware. For high-value storage, use multisignature schemes and distribute keys among trusted parties or devices.

Frequently asked questions

Can I recover my wallet on another device?
Yes — use your recovery phrase to restore on another Trezor or compatible wallet. If you used a passphrase, you'll need it to access that specific hidden wallet.
Is it safe to take a picture of my seed?
No — digital copies are vulnerable. Use physical backups and consider metal seed storage to protect against fire, water, and aging.
What if my device shows tampering?
Stop and contact official support. Do not initialize or use a device that shows signs of physical tampering.
